My favorite video of Mikey...

This is one of Mikey's latest videos... Could he be any cuter?

Manic Monday

This is my first Manic Monday post!

I went out to eat with my husband and then met some friends out for some drinks. I really wanted to go see Ocean's 13 because it came out the day before.

What's the last thing you bought yourself, just for fun?

My new LG enV cell phone!

What would the child you once were think of the adult you have become?

She would think that I am pretty cool. Probably wish that I drove a cooler car though.

The dreaded day

CD 1 that is. Not that I was expecting any different this month, but still. TTC can really take it's toll on you after awhile. *sigh* Oh well, another month and another chance to try again. I will call my OB/GYN back today if he doesn't call me first. Hopefully I can get in to get some bloodwork done and see what my problem is. 15 cycles TTC and no pregnancy is kind of nuts considering Mikey was conceived in the 2nd cycle we tried.

ClubMomma was on the radio!

How cool is that?!

This morning as I drove in I was listening to Q 104 in Cleveland... my usual station. They were talking about being addicted to their BlackBerry phones and the loss of service that occurred for a few hours the other day. So that led into talking about technological things in your life that you can't live without and asked for people to call in and tell them what they can't live without.

So there I went dialing in...

They (Skippy) answered the phone right away and then asked who I was and where I was calling from. So I told him and I was put on hold to talk to the morning show crew.

A couple of minutes later I hear the DJ say, off to Lisa in North Olmsted, what can't you live without?

"The internet! I am addicted" I say.

Allan, the one DJ asked why and what am I looking up all of the time. I told him that I look up about babies and getting pregnant, things like that. (oh gosh, if they only knew all of the TTC craziness that is out there!) Then I proceed to tell them that I made a website of my own and Rebecca, the other morning DJ asked if I could tell them what it was.

So of course I say ClubMomma.com and they even asked how to spell it. She went on right then and there on air and said it was very cute and all about Mommy stuff.

I couldn't really hear what the Allan and the Glenn the Funny Song Man (the other guy on the show) were talking about, but it was pretty cool to be on air like that.

How cool is that?

So a big thanks to the wonderful Q104 Morning show!!! Thanks for my 30 seconds of fame this morning!

Mikey's Surgery - Part 6

Mikey did stay in the hospital on Saturday night because of needing the extra pain meds on Saturday afternoon. That was fine with me, I wanted to make sure he was feeling somewhat better before we took him home.

Sunday morning when we were walking around Mikey seemed to start grabbing his diaper every once in awhile. Hmm.

He did get the ok to go home on Sunday, so we packed up and went home around noon! We made a quick stop at Target to pick up his prescription and then we were off. Mikey was happy to get home and see Max, his doggie!

He kept grabbing his diaper more and more and seemed to start squirming when this happened. I assume that it may have stung when he went pee. This actually seemed to get worse over the next couple of days.

I called the Doctor's office and they suspected that he may be having bladder spasms. So another prescription was called in on Thursday.

The episodes as I call them seem to get a little bit better, but finally by Sunday, a whole 9 days after surgery, he seems to be all better.

Hallelujah!

Mikey's Surgery - Part 5

We did not know if Mikey was going to be discharged today (Saturday). We had to wait and make sure he could tolerate the pain on strictly the Tylenol with Codeine since that is what we were going to go home with.

Mikey did fine up until the afternoon and he seemed to get very uncomfortable again. The nurse ended up giving him some Fentanyl again because the second dose of Tylenol did not seem to be doing the trick. We all noticed how puffy his eyes were, thought maybe it was because of all of the crying and being tired. The nurse said that it may have been an allergic reaction to the Morphine and gave him some Benadryl.

That put him to sleep within 10 minutes! Whoa! He slept for a few hours and when he woke up he seemed to be in better spirits.

I gave him some of my chocolate chip cookie... you can still see some puffiness in his eyes here.

What a cutie

About 3 hours after he ate the cookie, it was like night and day! He was standing in his crib and wanted to walk around and play!

Feeling better already!

Mikey's Surgery - Part 4

My finished his drink by the time we got to his room, so we asked for more. He drank that, and then another. They told us to slow it down because he may get sick drinking so fast and still being on the epidural.

Oops! He was ok though :-)

Mikey recovering from Surgery

Mikey pretty much just laid in his bed and hung out with Mom and Dad for the next few hours. Dad had to leave at about 9:30 pm so he could take care of our dog Max. I was going to stay with Mikey during his hospital stay. Mikey eventually fell asleep at 11 ish.

Besides being woken up for the nurse to check his vitals, he slept all night. That is until 5 am whe someone from anesthesia came in to turn off his epidural. At this time they also gave him a dose of Tylenol with Codeine to help with the pain. He fell back asleep before 6 am.

Then at 7 am the guy from anesthesia came back to remove the epidural catheter from Mikey's back. Mikey tolerated that well. Once he was done, the nurse came in to remove Mikey's foley catheter. I am sure Mikey wanted this out, but once it was out he cried. The nurse said it probably stung a little, but it should go away.  I said, "Cool". I looked at the clock, it was about 7:30 am.

8:00 am rolled around and Mikey was still crying. I called the nurse because this is so not my son. She gave him a shot of Morphine and said this should start working in a few minutes. She said she would check back in about 15 minutes.

Well... 8:15 rolled around with no improvement. He just kept crying and rubbing his eyes. She came in and said that he may need some more Fentanyl (the pain medication he was receiving through his epidural). He got this at about 8:45 am and by 9 am he was feeling better.

Phew!

Mikey's Surgery - Part 3

We went into a small room to speak with the Doctor. He came into the room about 30 seconds later and told us that everything went well. He said that there was definitely a blockage in his ureterso it was very good that he performed the surgery now, versus waiting until he was older. He told us that he did not need to trim his ureter lengthwise so no stent was needed to be used. Mikey will have to go in for an ultrasound to check thing out in about a month to see how everything is doing. He will also have a VCUG (voiding cystourethrogram) done in a few months.

Awesome!!!

I was very excited to hear that the stent was not needed. Since they did not put it in, they did not have to go in and get it out a month later. Thank You God for this!

After we were done speaking with him, we were able to go in to the recovery room to see him!

We walked into the recovery room and there was our little honey! He was awake and was getting his blood pressure checked when we walked in. He was crying because he didn't like the blood pressure cuff. Aww! We stayed in there and after about 20 minutes he rolled over onto his stomach! Eeek, can he do that with his incision I thought?

He was ok, and he actually fell asleep like this. He had the epidural still in so his pain was under control. My parents came into the room and gave Mikey kisses and then they were off.

Mikey woke up he asked for something to drink. It was about 6 pm at this point so he had to be pretty thirsty. He did have IV fluids during and still at this point, but it is always nice to drink something. They gave him something called Enfalyte that I mixed with water for him. He started chugging this down and then we were off to his room...

Mikey's Surgery - Part 2

Surgery had just begun and we knew we had a few hours before it was over, so we decided to head down and grab some lunch. We could not dare eat or drink in front of Mikey beforehand, so we were quite hungry.

After lunch we head back up to the waiting area and like clockwork at 3:10 pm the receptionist saw us and told us that the surgery was continuning with no problems. That was nice to hear. Not that there was anything I could do, but hearing that made me feel happy.

My parents arrived at the hospital somewhere around 3:30 pm. They had finally finished packing for their move. It just so happened that my parents were moving to Germany the next day, and fortunately were able to come say their goodbyes to us at the hospital.

At 4:10 pm we recieved another page: "Surgery is going well. Everything is fine"

The Pager

I thought, would they page saying that it was NOT going fine? I doubt it. Regardless, I am happy to see a good progress report. My mind tends to wander when I am waiting around.

Time was almost standing still and I was getting antsy. My Mom wanted to grab some coffee, so we walked on down to Starbucks to grab some Mocha's. What seemed like a few minutes after we got back, a nurse came out and said the surgery was done and we would speak to the doctor in a few minutes.

Woo Hoo!

Mikey's Surgery - Part 1

Mikey's surgery is done and over with and it went well!

We were to be at the hospital at 11 am, and the surgery was scheduled for 12:30 pm. Mikey was not allowed to eat after midnight the night before surgery, and he could only have clear liquids up until 9 am the morning of. We were worried at how he would do because he loves to drink from his sippy.

Here is Mikey playing with our pager...

Our little monkey

Mikey was a champ! He asked once for milk or juice, but he was so distracted by all of toys in the waiting room that he forgot about it quickly. We were very thankful for that!

One parent was allowed to go back into the operating room with Mikey as he was put under. So they provided a special gown and hair net thing for me to wear. Well, Mikey seemed to take a liking to this hair net...

Silly Mikey What a ham!

Surgery was delayed a bit for whatever reason, so it was 1:30 by the time I carried Mikey into the opearating room. They delivered a gas through a mask that put him to sleep and by 1:34 he was out. As soon as he closed his eyes I just cried. I couldn't believe that my baby was having surgery! It just hit me all at that point. They quickly escorted me from the room so they could begin. I could not even speak.

I met back up with Big Mike in the prep room and we gathered our things and headed to the waiting area. As with other hospitals, the Cleveland Clinic gives you a pager that will keep you updated with surgery information. I have to say that pager was so nice to have. We were in the waiting area making a few calls and then at 2:10 pm they informed us that the surgery had started.

Let the waiting begin...
